Frequently asked questions
TickerPal puts stock, crypto, and currency quotes in Slack. If you want a full walkthrough, start with how to get stock tickers in Slack.
TickerPal is a Slack app for looking up stock, cryptocurrency, and currency prices without leaving your workspace. Type /ticker followed by a symbol to get the latest quote, then open a chart, read a few headlines, add it to a watchlist, or share it with your channel.
Install TickerPal with Add to Slack, then type /ticker AAPL (or any symbol) in a channel or DM. The quote is visible only to you until you tap Share. A full walkthrough is on the How to get stock tickers in Slack guide.
/ticker AAPL returns a quote. /ticker help shows usage. /ticker watchlist lists symbols you follow. /ticker report shows a market-close summary. /ticker unfollow AAPL removes a symbol from your watchlist. /ticker alerts 5 DMs you if a followed name moves 5% from the prior close. Stocks, crypto such as BTCUSD, and FX such as EURUSD are supported.
Yes. Quotes, charts, watchlists, weekday recaps, and percent-move alerts are included with the Slack app. You do not need a paid TickerPal account to use them.
After a quote, tap Add to Watchlist. /ticker watchlist shows the symbols you follow and lets you turn open, midday, and close recaps on or off. Close DMs after 4pm Eastern are on by default. /ticker report summarizes those names anytime. Recaps lead with the day's movers and note if a followed stock reports earnings in the next few sessions. Optional percent-move alerts (/ticker alerts 5) DM you during market hours if a followed name moves that much versus the prior close. Monday mornings also get a this-week earnings note when something on your list reports. A full walkthrough is on the How to get a Slack market-close report guide.
Yes. Use pairs that end in USD, for example /ticker BTCUSD for Bitcoin or /ticker EURUSD for the euro. The same quote, chart, and share actions work as they do for stocks. A full walkthrough is on the How to get crypto prices in Slack guide.
TickerPal replies are private to you by default so a busy channel is not flooded with lookups. Tap Share on the quote card to post it to the channel.
No. Quotes, charts, and news are for information only and are not investment, trading, or tax advice. Price data comes from third-party providers and may be delayed or incomplete. See the Terms of Service.
In Slack, open workspace settings, go to Manage apps, find TickerPal, and remove it. That disconnects the slash command from that workspace.
